In the year 2003, more than 40 million women were going through the change of life and due to the huge number of baby boomers now reaching the age of menopause that number is expected to almost double in the next five years. Because of the enormity of the problems associated with menopause, many organizations have been founded to guide women through this change as best as possible. One such organization is called the North American Menopause Society, which we will talk about in this article. If you think about it, women spend almost half of their life going through the change of life. Therefore, viable solutions are critical to bring balance back to the woman’s life during this time.
The North American Menopause Society is different in that they not only support women going through menopause from a medical standpoint but also from a scientific standpoint. In fact, North American Menopause Society is the leading non-profit organization having committed to helping women as their body’s and lives change, teaching them about menopause and helping them to understand what is happening, why it is happening, and what can be done to make the process more manageable.
The great thing about North American Menopause Society is the vast information. Here, women from around the world can learn about the various phases associated with the change of life to include perimenopause, early menopause, menopause, and even post-menopause. The information contained within the site is extremely valuable, focusing on both short and long-term relief from the many difficult symptoms women face. Best of all, women feel they have a viable source of information, as well as proven strategies and therapies that can diminish the effects associated with menopause.
The North American Menopause Society was first founded in 1989 as a unique organization that reaches out to women, healthcare professionals, and even manufacturers of treatment options, bringing everyone together in a single forum. With a membership of more than 2,000 individuals who are considered experts in their field, women will gain incredible insight directly from areas of medicine, nutrition, psychology, nursing, sociology, epidemiology, pharmacy, anthropology, and even health education. For this reason, this society is able to provide accurate and unbiased information from a variety of viewpoints.
Rather than just muddle through the change of life, all women can learn how to change things to make it easier. They will learn about treatment options that are more effective, risks of various treatments, how to balance life with menopause, and most importantly, how to have the confidence while going through menopause, knowing there are things that can help and no, she is not losing her mind. Because of the knowledge base created, women now feel they have a foothold in working through menopause, which is what this society is all about.
