One of the greatest physical milestones in a woman’s life is menopause, which is the end of her menstrual cycle for 12 consecutive months. This phase of her life typically occurs at the average age of 51, give or take a few years. It is important to understand that there are two kinds of menopause - premature menopause and perimenopause. Premature menopause happens before the age of 40 for reasons such as surgical removal of the ovaries or damaged ovaries as a result of a cancer treatment such as radiation or chemotherapy, causing menopause to set in immediately. Perimenopause is a transition that occurs over several years, leading up to menopause whereas the woman’s body begins producing smaller amounts of hormones, therefore, she may experience symptoms related to menopause.
Some of the symptoms that take place during this time may include night sweats, hot flashes, insomnia, heart palpitations, vaginal dryness, and forgetfulness. With proper diet, nutritional supplements, and exercise, also known as a type of menopause natural remedy, some of those symptoms can be minimized and thereby, providing more comfort in the woman’s life. When it comes to menopause natural remedy, these generally focus on balancing and regulating the body during the transition to menopause, favoring non-drug therapies.
Keep in mind that a menopause natural remedy tends to work slower than treatments such as hormonal replacement therapy (HRT), possibly weeks or months. Therefore, a woman will need to make a serious commitment to continue. The good news is that dietary and nutritional changes along with nutritional supplements have shown to produce fabulous results by minimizing the discomforts of menopause-related symptoms. A woman should educate herself on products, especially when buying nutritional supplements or herbs. Just because they seem natural does not always mean they are safe.
The main concern is that there is little regulation control over quality and contaminants. However, many forms of menopause natural remedy are quite beneficial. Take the natural therapy Angus Castus, also known as Monks Pepper or Chasteberry extract. This particular supplement has been well studied and determined to be a valuable treatment option for hormone fluctuations, ovarian function, and dysfunctional bleeding. Black cohosh is particularly effective for mood swings, hot flashes, and depression but has been noted that that for women taking blood pressure medications or those who are sensitive to aspirin, caution about this menopause natural remedy should be considered. Another excellent option is evening primrose oil, also known as borage oil. Many studies have been conducted with results showing great relief of breast pain and mood swings, as well as hot flashes in some women has been achieved. Gingko biloba, or Maidenhair Tree, often called "Memory Tree extract", is helpful with circulation and memory problems. Another natural therapy is St. John's Wort, commonly known as Nature's Prozac, which acts as an anti-anxiety and antidepressant. Studies actually show that St. John’s Wort is just as effective as many prescription drugs are but better tolerated without the side effects.
Remember that the menopause natural remedy focuses on balancing and regulating the woman’s body during the change of life. With this, a woman can maintain optimal health, both physically and psychologically. However, it is always important to talk with a physician prior to taking any kind of natural therapy since supplements can have interaction problems and they do produce side effects in some cases. Therefore, it is always better safe than sorry.
